The centre began as a fighter sector operations block during World War Two and is suituated at the North Weald Airfield. During 1986 it was rebuilt internally as the Epping Forest Council emergency centre to give the local district councils a secure place to control the local area, and direct the emergency services from in the event of nuclear war and to protect the civil servants there from radiation. The centre would have also then reported back to a County emergency centre situated elsewhere. Sadly the place has been vandalised and has left alot of fire damage.
Since visiting the bunker in 2006, the bunker has now been demolished
