Post was locked when i first visited in 2007. However on a recent visit post was open and there is evidence of vandalism which is a real shame as it seemed the post was being restored. The hatch is now open however there is a wooden board nailed across the ladder a few rungs down preventing access underground which i didnt want to remove as its keeping people out and has hopefully stopped vandalism in the monitoring room. You could access with a rope or caving ladder but i had neither and was on my own!
